Marrakech Express 10 - Cordoba to Tangier

A leisurely start to the day with the 10.40 train to Algeciras & there's speedy airline style check-in & baggage screening. Sad to be leaving Cordoba as it's such an easy place to stay & with so much unique history. The further south we go the more fertile the countryside seems to get, which seems counter intuitive, fields are fresh ploughed or full of growing crops & forests of olive trees. Prickly pear cactus provides the real indicator of how searing the heat will become later in the year.

There's a mix up with the transfer bus so we miss the 5pm ferry & have to catch the 9pm from Tafri to Tangier. The boat is a fairly modern, small high speed ferry & immigration & customs forms are processed on board.

Take a 5 euro taxi to our hotel, the El Minzah, which is well situated on the waterfront. It was a very grand hotel in it's day & all stars of the 50's & 60's stayed there. A bit faded but full of charm & local character.
