publishing history
Newspapers
I have been a travel columnist for the Reading Eagle (www.readingeagle.com), a large daily broadsheet in Pennsylvania, from 2004 to 2008 and am a regular feature writer for the West Australian newspaper (www.thewest.com.au)
Magazines
I completed an extended two-year series of photo-features on hiking and exploring the English countryside for the Archant group of magazines in the UK. I also write regularly for The Lady and occasionally for Wanderlust, Get Lost, Georgia magazine, Altitude and International Rail Traveller.
In the past year I have written general travel features on Australia, Namibia, Seychelles, Ireland, Germany, the Caribbean, Native American Indians, the Scottish islands, London, York, Cape Verde, Dubrovnik, New Zealand, Japan and many others.
Internet
I've written several internet travel guides for Professional Travel Guide (www.professionaltravelguide.com) and Arrival Guides (www.arrivalguides.com) - recently completing guides to England, Albania, Macedonia, Luxembourg and the cities of Oxford, Dubrovnik and Darwin.
I am also a regular hotel reviewer for Northstar Travel Media (www.starserviceonline.com) and have covered hotels around the globe including England, Ireland, Scotland, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Greece, Croatia, Albania, Macedonia, Italy, Singapore, Korea and Australia.
Other internet publications include Sky Travel (www.travel.sky.com), Itchy Traveller (www.itchytraveller.com) and Go World Travel (www.goworldtravel.com)
Books
I have just finished my first book called "Wildlife Conservation Volunteering - the complete guide" for Bradt Travel Guides (www.bradt-travelguides.com) which will appear in January 2009. It is an in-depth analysis of the plethora of conservation volunteer organisations including those that have been around for decades and those that have sprung up in recent years. Its unique feature is a star rating of their strengths and weakness' so readers can make informed decisions rather than responding to slick sales patter.
A series of follow-up features based on the book are due out in the next few months including the Amazon and Namibia in The Lady and West Australian, Seychelles in Wanderlust and West Australian and a Ten Best...feature in BBC Wildlife.
